The NBDD minister, Sri RabindraNathGhosh, laid the foundation stone for a four-story building for the college that would cost Rs.3.86 crore for construction. Speaking on the occasion the minister said that the government is planning to introduce solar panel at the SSM and other colleges of North Bengal. Principal also thanked him for approvingcollege’s proposal for the construction of an auditorium by his department.
Funded by Amit Agarwala Foundation,the construction of a Learning cum Resource Centre is underway. When completed , the centre will house an Information Centre cum Smart Library having provision for accessibility of a huge repository of e-resources, and a smart reading room.
Making the 20th foundation day Surya Sen College in Siliguri today introduced the students accedental welfate insurance and scholarshipof Rs. 5,000 to 120 meritorius students every year, making it the first goverment-aided college in India to do so
It was indeed a different meeting for the MIC , Tourism , Sj.Gautam Deb, a meeting, devoid of official formalities , when he spent three long hours with the students ,teachers and staff members of the college, on 20 September,2018, interacting with them, answering their queries and assuring them of his help pertaining to the development of the college.
